Christ Redeemer Fellowship in Granite Shoals is excited to announce the opening of Shepherds Rest Center for Pastoral Care to provide encouragement and support for individuals and families struggling with emotional and spiritual issues. Services are available without charge to anyone seeking faith-based solutions to marriage and family problems, parenting issues, addictions, anger management, or other personal emotional difficulties.

“We are so pleased to be able to offer this service to the community,” said Jackie English, pastor of Christ Redeemer Fellowship. “People are facing so many overwhelming problems in their families and in their personal lives, and they don’t have anywhere to turn. This is especially true if they are trying to find help that includes a thorough commitment to spiritual values as part of the healing process.”

English emphasized that the services of the Pastoral Care Center are not intended to replace those offered by a professional counselor or doctor.

“There are good professional counseling resources available in our area, and those people do a wonderful job, “ English noted. “But professional counseling is generally expensive, and not always covered by insurance these days. And, in many cases, all people need is a chance to talk their problems out with a safe, caring person, and connect with some practical solutions.”

The Center keeps a list of referral resources for those who might require the assistance of a licensed professional.

“The Pastoral Care Center incorporates a strong, grace-based focus into the helping/healing process,” explained English. “This simply means that, in addition to helping people with communications skills, problem solving, negotiating, restoring broken relationships and things like that, we also provide an opportunity for them to connect with God and the fact that He loves them and accepts them freely.”

Overseeing the programs of the Center for Pastoral Care is Rev. Randy Moncebaiz, who has recently joined the staff of Christ Redeemer Fellowship as Associate Pastor for Pastoral Care. Randy has been involved in various aspects of emotional and spiritual healing for people in the community and church for the past 15 years.

“The first thing I always tell people about this program is that it is strictly non-denominational and non-doctrinal,” said Moncebaiz. “This ministry isn’t intended to convert anyone or recruit members for any church. We just want to be help people find a better quality of life for themselves and their families.”

Moncebaiz has a B.S. in Behavioral Science and has served as a licensed Social Work Associate. He has extensive experience dealing with child abuse and prevention. In addition, he has facilitated various specialized groups for adult incest survivors, perpetrators of child sexual abuse mandated to participate in counseling, and parents of abused children.  He has provided training for prospective volunteers for CASA, DHS and the Children’s Advocacy Center. For the past 3˝ years, he has worked for the Arkansas State Police as an investigator of alleged violations of the Child Maltreatment Act, often having an opportunity to minister after the investigation to the victim and/or family. In the past, Randy has also served as a counseling associate under the umbrella of a licensed professional Christian counseling ministry.

“I am very excited about this new grace-based ministry opportunity for the Hill Country,” exclaimed Moncebaiz. “It is designed for anyone struggling with the baggage of past wounds, with chains to current habits, or just any hang-up that is sabotaging your joy and peace.”

Shepherds Rest Center for Pastoral Care is located at 148 W. Live Oak, in Granite Shoals. Anyone wishing to find out more about the services offered by the Center, or to make an appointment, is encouraged to call 830-598-7828. This ministry is offered to the community at no charge. Those who receive services will have an opportunity to make a free-will donation to the church that will be used to support the Center’s programs.
